South End

Bordered by the Waterfront, The South End of Halifax is filled with charm. When you think of Halifax, you’re probably thinking of the South End. The South End houses the Downtown core, and ranges from small local business, to luxury living. The South End offers something for everyone: from the students, to the professionals and the seniors, it is a must see.

West End

The West End is truly the residential area of Downtown Halifax. The popular Quinpool Road sits at the heart of the West End, and the Halifax Shopping Centre is just minutes away. The West end is best for individuals who want a quieter neighbourhood, but wish to call Downtown their home.

Clayton Park/Fairview/Fairmont

Just outside of the Downtown Core, Clayton Park/Fairview is a residential area with lots of shopping and condominium buildings. The condos in Clayton Park are slightly more affordable than what you will find downtown and are great for those who don’t mind a short commute.

Armdale/Spryfield

Armdale/Spryfield is another suburban area of Halifax with scenic views of the ocean. Residents in these areas typically commute to work, as these areas are largely residential. Armdale especially has tons of natural beauty to explore in the summer months. Condos are more affordable than those closer to downtown and offer a slower pace of living.

Dartmouth

Dartmouth is popular with those who wish to still be close to the Peninsula, but want to pay less and are not keen on the hustle and bustle of Downtown Halifax. Downtown Dartmouth has beautiful waterfront views of the Halifax Skyline, unique local shops and plenty to explore as well.

Bedford

The Bedford area is much more residential than the Downtown Core. Most would consider Bedford to be “the suburbs”. Bedford is home to many condominium buildings as well and definitely holds its own when it comes to shopping. There are two mid-size shopping malls and other big box stores that will satisfy anything you need.
